Cathar Trail
This hike links together many of the Cathar castles that stretch from the Mediterranean sea to Foix in the foothills of the French Pyrenees. It is a twelve-day hike staying in a mix of small hotels and Chambre d’Hotes along the way. The scenery changes from the sweet-smelling herbs and rocky soil of the coastal hinterland, to steep-sided limestone valleys and the forests in the lower peaks of the Pyrenees.
